TekSHOI Media Collaboration
To know more about the Programme Click The Button
The TekSHOI Media Collaboration (TMC) is a year-long initiative dedicated to empowering local journalists in Cox’s Bazar to produce high-quality, ethical, and impactful investigative reporting. Co-led by BetterStories Limited and the Cox’s Bazar Union of Journalists (CBUJ), and supported by Free Press Unlimited, Article 19, and the European Union, the project is part of the Collaboration Lab (Round 2).
-
TMC addresses critical gaps in the local media landscape—limited resources, inadequate training in investigative techniques, and the absence of standardised reporting practices. These challenges have contributed to misinformation, sensationalism, and underrepresentation of complex humanitarian and environmental issues in the region.
-
Through focused capacity-building efforts, ethical journalism training, and collaboration among local reporters, TMC seeks to strengthen public accountability and elevate the voices of Cox’s Bazar. The initiative specifically supports journalists in covering urgent topics such as the Rohingya crisis, climate change, and humanitarian challenges, ensuring that stories from the ground are told with accuracy, integrity, and depth.
Cohort Starts: October 2024

"The climate change module was incredibly useful for my reporting. I now focus on providing solutions in my articles, a significant change in my fieldwork. The training helped me build strong relationships with people in the field and apply what I learned about climate risk to the coastal communities of Cox's Bazar. I'm inspired to continue working on climate issues and with affected communities. The program prepared me to tackle complex challenges in development and humanitarian sectors. I'm committed to ethical journalism and positively representing the fellowship. My advice to future fellows: gain knowledge and apply it honestly and meticulously in the field, always cross-checking information.
